This period drama set in Shanghai in the late 1930s is directed by James Ivory (The Remains of the Day). Old Shanghai ran on the wheels of rickshaws, the two-wheeled carts pulled by men. At the time, there were 90,000 rickshaws in the city. Only 3 rickshaws were recorded during the production. Pluk designed more rickshaws during post production.
